Korea has come a long way from the devastation of the Korean War. Over the past 50 years, Korea has developed at an alarming pace. Today, this small little country is the 11th largest economy in the world. Its IT infrastructure is unparalleled in the world. It offers one of the most efficient public transportation systems of all major cities, most of the amenities Westerners can find with in their own country, a unique culture, delicious and healthy foods, and some the kindest, warmest people in the world.
How much will I get paid and where will I live?
Like with any job, pay is determined by what an applicant brings to the table. It is not enough just to be able to fluently speak English. The average salary of teacher here in Korea is 2 million won per month. This salary is more than enough for a person to live fairly comfortably and be able to save so money for back home. Plus, housing is provided (single or shared) which reduces expenses immensely.
Most teachers live in modern single housing that provide all the amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Some teachers request shared housing to help with the adjustment to the new environment. Either way, your housing will be taken care of.
