The salary level is divided according to the Board of Education policy. In Korea, most of the boards of Education hire around 100 teachers each year in March and September.
Therefore, all teachers looking for public school jobs must plan to arrive in Korea by the last week of April/ August. If you choose a public school position, your salary will be decided by the Board of Education salary scale. Jobs in the public schools offer a great opportunity to learn more about Korean Society since you are working with many Korean teachers on different levels.
In addition to public school jobs, a lot of good, well-organized, professional private English institutes (hogwons) also look for certified teachers only. Many want to invest more money to get a good certified teacher for the quality of their school and to meet the parent's needs for their children.
